Is it in too big a group to rectally examine them all? If you have someone on farm who AI's, they will be able to feel an enlarged cervix. Also, there's a fair chance there will be a smell after a few days

Is there any trick for spotting an aborted cow?

Had one today - poss 6-7 month foetus - but I’m blowed if I can spot the abortee. No blood anywhere to be seen

They generally show a bit of grub on the tail a few days after even if they’ve calved clean,kicking cows out of the cubicles you see all sorts on the beds.

We find they often come bulling very soon after aborting.

Apart from she will come bulling in a few weeks or pass some afterbirth in a day or 2.
We struggle sometimes when they have calved full term.

That's when you get calving bingo. That's a calf born in every group near dries far dries and one in the freshly calved group.
Get a full house at least once most years.

The fresh group is a speciality here. then go for a walk around the dry group, if that doesn't work, a swift run through the parlour it is.

All you can do is walk the cows for next few days see if any discharge blood coming from back end or if that fails she should come bulling

Careful your slipping into hero mode just as the buyers want.

My number one just had an 8 hour surgery in his head going to be off for a while. Herdsman recruited but working his notice and doesn’t start till beginning of October. In the mean time...... milk, try and do all the other sh!t, milk, calve a cow, tube a poorly calf, eat, sleep repeat. Be a long fortnight me thinks.
