night before last, p/harrowing, turning on headland, to start next line, lights were dimmed by dust clouds, and some guess work required ! Nice bit of very welcome rain last night, as grass had slowed up again.

I won't be deliberately self feeding off it but there's a better than average chance that something will have a go over winter.
Self feed field heaps are a cornish thing. You know its a dry area when it's a possibility
Weren't you planning a massive concrete pad for things like that?
One of them round balers for Maize or an ag-bag would have been the best option in your circumstances.

I’m not sure I would ever recommend an ag bag. They make bad mud problems worse.
Here you wouldn’t ever have a big bale stored on soil for winter never mind an Ag-bag.

This is the very top of our hill, wind could well be an issue but I don't think mud will be, you could drive a car across this field 350 days a year, there's that little soil.
I don't plan to feed it over winter anyway, I will probably feed a bit to fresh cows in spring but the plan is to keep the bulk of as drought reserve.
A field heap was never the plan though when I asked someone to grow it for me. I have a planning application in for two clamps but has been going on for nearly a year now.
