We milked a jersey x Angus for a while. Butterfat was always below 3%
Seems a bit bonkers to put her back to holstein in that kind of system. Could get a great beef calf out of her each year and still milk her if you wanted to.Worked on a farm when I first started his Holstein bull got to the neighbouring charolais cows so he bought the cow for some reason ended up milking well doing 8600 on a 10000 litre system had a heifer calf 6 years on the trot back to Holstein and they all made good cows ended up with about 15 or so cows from this one cow from her various daughters and he wasn’t a man to keep rubbish
Nope tag and tested negativeA BVD PI?
Well I suppose she milked like that as a pure beefer there was a good enough reason to think half Breds would milk better and they did I seem to think a charolais was a duel purpose breed originally but I might be wrongSeems a bit bonkers to put her back to holstein in that kind of system. Grandfather used to always milk a brown and white Simmental x HF for sentimental reasons. She always had a beef calf and when she eventually went he’d keep another brown and white Simmental cross heifer.
