I think these people are from the south east And east anglia and think it’s all arable !
No these people live in cities and don't see anything past their four office and house walls, travel on the tube to work and back again, have everything delivered and get an uber from one street to another.

I went to school with several who have adopted this lifestyle and now get to see the inspirational gofundme pages on Facebook asking for money to reintroduce wooly mammoths/alligators/flamingos (or equivalent) to the UK due to our "lack of wildlife"

l think they are just 'told' we have grubbed all the hedges out, and think we have, they have nothing to compare it against.
l have read that the total milage of hedges, in the UK, is increasing on a year to year basis, but you never hear that.
on @Jdunn55 here, since the b cull, wildlife has really increased, even seen hedgehogs ! but you never hear that, either.

What will you follow the maize with? And how many acres/ how many kg are you allowing per cow?
Winter Barley which we can then clamp the grain with silage, then back into grass.
More than 1/4 of the diet but less than 1/3 will be maize. That's as technical as I can get. Only because there is x amount of room left in the clamp. If there was more room then would eat more maize.

young dock leaf's are 25% protein, yours are a bit past that.
don't knock the herbal leys, they work, esp on dry ground, we have ryegrass shrivelling to bugger all now, yet clover and herbs, are still growing, as is the fesque and cocksfoot.
and, when someone mentions, you have a lot of docks, you can say 'herbal ley',

When you say clamp the grain with silage your literally talking about mixing it in as your putting silage into the clamp? Or separately clamping the barley? I’ve barley in and no idea what do to with it, what’s my easiest option after combining? Don’t want hassle, il have no room in pits for it and want to ideally keep it on farm for feeding.

Clamped last years maxamon and crimp with this year's silage. Will clamp this years grain and reclamp with next years silage.
