The girls must have heard me complaining about the cost of pumping slurry because they've very kindly spread muck all over my silage fields :banghead:

Mysteriously the fence was up when the lad went to go get the cows :whistle:
 
I suppose if you double in size then lose say 25% you are still ahead of where you started?

Investor money is no different from investing your own money or borrowing, there needs to be a return. If anything it shows confidence in the business of outsiders are willing to invest. Or they are giving someone an opportunity to build up their capital within the business?

Without knowing details you can't make a judgement.
its a game changer for farming though, normal family farms are having to compete with these investor backed businesses, in a generations time most large dairies will end up run by companies with the family members simply owning a small share, sad way to go

Any farm can decide to become a larger farm, and look for investor backing.

whilst I don't disagree with that there is the risk of you doing all the work and your investors end up owning all the assets. which appears to be the rumour around the Scottish business.
And there not even started sending milk to the new processor who's already dropped the milk price, not for the faint hearted :woot:

it seems to be quite common practice down in England too? id only have 450k to put towards cows and a new set up which would be from the sale of my beef cows im not selling any land
Would of thought you could convert existing buildings put in a new 24/48 and buy 250 nice cows (not at @Beef farmer prices, he could do 500 for that budget). Spend a bit on electric fencing, tracks troughs etc. Shouldn't be out of the way to achieve a cfp of £100k+. Not sure what everyone else thinks. Obviously you would need to do a good job at it.

Also you'd only need 250 acres for the above so you'd have plenty of ground left for arable, potato rents, rearing beef calves and young stock or whatever.

agreed but the type of system you are thinking off may not attract a favourable contract oop north
