I'm in the centre of the peninsula, right on the coast, I think the place you are on about is near Dumfries so about 70miles away, I march mcintoshs land,

Yeah it is near dumfries. Old man McIntosh was a gent who put a whole day showing me his operation. It's impressive

Baled hay yesterday off the grazing platform that hadn't been tedded out. Mowed Thursday, raked monday and baled Tuesday, nice and simple.

I made some haylage the other day, mowed Saturday, raked sunday baled Monday, could of left til Tuesday and would of been easily hay

I know I should measure grass but I don't, but I do walk or drive the whole grazing platform every Wednesday afternoon, making notes and writing a 2 week plan.

In the last week grass growth here has gone from phenomenal at last week's walk to negligible at this week's walk.

Glad I'm not the only one with a "lax" attitude to grass measurement.

I measure it religiously up to about Royal Cornwall time. Then it gets hot, cows dry off so less demand for what grass their is then I'm calving then its October so what's the point? But I do have a pair of eyes and Jack Russell that needs walking so she'll do instead.

I do like Ayrshires.

Is that your house? Handy for keeping a eye on calving cows.

That's one of the famous red and white heifers that were for sale on here, 3rd calver now and one of the better ones. Calf's a Norwegian red (nymoen).
Yeah that's my house ideal for keeping an eye on the calvers this time of year don't even need to go outside!!

Yeah ideally but have a wide range of different cows in the herd at the moment so just tend to serve each cow to whatever I feel will improve them the most
