Get them in the 15 acre. Any snow? Was up four lanes apparently
Sort of, more sheets of ice but wasnt far from snow!
176 had twin heifers last night but 1 was born dead and breach, kicked myself for her as should have put my hand in sooner 😡 on the plus side 1238 had a surprise friesian heifer this morning!

I would get them in the 15 ac but I sowed a fair wack of fertiliser about 10 days ago on it so will have to wait for the minute 🙄 still got about 2 weeks worth of grazing down the far end though so will see what the situation is then!

Well I ve read some nonesense on here in the past but that wins by a country mile.
why, if we could get a medium term ley, extended to a long term ley, without losing production, l would count that, as a serious money saver, with the lawns, it's extra hassle. On a longer term outlook from silage only leys, you have an option to sow a specific cutting ley, cut and graze, is a compromise between the two, so in practice, you can have a specific leys for either, raising the 'food value' of both, plus, keeping a ley down longer, is a big saving on it's own, any idea that potentially can save money, should be studied. Friend, as mentioned, has 110 acres of leys, cutting only, saving two or three reseeds per acre, over that time period. One see's many figures for reseeding, times those by the above, and that equates to rather a large sum. But perhaps you are 'not' open to new ideas.

We haven't got much grass but turned out a week ago and sending them out full in a morning and they are unbelievably content, going to be a long round though, regrowth is very steady

I have grass. When I have a surplus I cut. When I don’t. I don’t. We reseed the bottom 5% at most each season. Last season despite the dry spell we grew 13.2 tons over the platform.
do you know how much you grow? And how on earth do you know what your neighbour grew ? Dairy farming is only as complicated as you make it.
