Crimped at 30% moisture with Kelvincave additive.
I pushed 3kg crimp barley per cow per day away with the maize. Hoping to cut parlour cake back here too. Need to keep the spenditure to a minimum!

one thing about slimming down, 27 acres of corn going in.
Really good stand of maize, but wont be ready in time to get the rye in, needs to go in now, so that is going to wheat, easy 4t/ac, and enough straw, so that will help, + overseeded plenty of clover.

my daughter is a reception teacher, so her kids get a farming twist in lessons, much to the amusement of the other teachers, they don't. And that is where the start of the disconnect from farming and food begins.View attachment 987634not sure pre school will understand.

we have a good private sale of b/w dairy bulls, they have gone from glut to shortage, the more fr they are, the more they pay. We had 2 calves floating around, so as going to frome, took them, big mistake, the hfd hfr made £90, and the fr b made £14, only took them, because they were a nuisance, if we had waited for our chaps, hfd hfr would have been £150, and fb would have been £80/90, lesson learn't, but at least they are no longer peeing us off.

Tried some years ago, wasn't impressed, costs or results, and they don't have any on bull of the day. Most of my Frisian bull calves sell for £175+ with a few good ones oner £200. But biggest plus for me has to be easy calving

here it's called lucky dip. Dairy, is what someone no longer wants/ sold up, or just forgotten. Beef, anything.I can’t believe bull of the day is still a thing.

here we go, Sunday on my own as it’s the heardsmans kids birthday, what could possibly go wrong…… Last time I had 5 new calved cows to gather up from 2 locations. There is potential for similar again.
