Came back from me hols in N Devon yesterday its as green as you like except where its set stocked.
Surprisingly few cows tho.

140mm in my rain gauge when I got back so I still say you don't know how lucky you are😂
Mrs G is currently holidaying in Pembrokeshire, she says it's rained everyday they've been there, everywhere is green and most farms have a sign up advertising silage for sale. There's talk of leaving the kids there and seeing how many bales she can bring back.

a little bit of information l came across, re fly control, this was from the US, and included beef hfrs, as well as dairy.
Research had shown, 75% of hfrs, calving for the first time, without any fly control, were not 100% 'right' in the udder, seemed a lot to me.
But, 40 yrs ago, we used to very carefully check dry cows, and i/c hfrs, for summer mastitis, it was a real problem. Used fly stuff for years, get an occasional hfr blind in a quarter, but really haven't had a 'proper' case for years now. Is this what others are finding ?

years ago bought a fly 'bait' put on top of a big bottle of water, and it filled up in 24 hrs, couldn't believe the amount, and couldn't get another either.
its scary how many flies are about, and thank goodness for repellents.
