I just can't get my head around how many people have to have a telehandler rather than a tractor and loader.

They end up clocking up ridiculous hours as people just use them as a wheelbarrow.
I actually bought three new twin wheel barrows last week AND I have a telehandler!

Tractor and feed wagon
Loader tractor
Bar mower
Rotary mower
Small dump trailer
4 wheeler
Feeds a lot of cows.

Extras we do have are field roller and bale unroller as well as one loader tractor split between 3 farms as a back up. And a 55 horse tractor for calf feeding.

I've managed to avoid owning one up to now but I finally gave in and bought one last week. Upto now loader tractors have suited us because we have four/five separate sites but going forward were down to 3 and 90% of the work/housing is on one site.

I've spent a lot repairing front axle damage in the last few years as well.
I’m not sure if it’s brand dependent but we have really good luck with JD front ends. Just put the first set of king pins in a 4 year old. Tie rod ends last year. I’d estimate it loads 8-10 k tons per year. We do wear out grease guns though

You’ll never go back to tractor and loader after owning a handler

Tractor and loader are for peasants. Pivot steer telehandler reigns supreme.
Have been unable to make the cost of a dedicated loader work out more cost/capital efficient than a loader tractor. We have a good efficient loading method that could be improved with a larger bucket. Only putting 800-1000 hrs a year on the loader tractor and it seems to have low cost of operation and ownership. A dedicated loader would largely sit idle for 8 months of the year being a single use machine.

When I started up several years the first & only peace of kit I had for the first 18 months was a second hand telehandler. Fed up, scraped, did endless building work, fencing, etc, still own it now, best 20k iv ever spent.

i was shocked the other day when I asked for a rough price on a jcb 320 and was told they are over 100k 😳
Aye we got a new 320s in 2021. Not as eye watering as that though. One of the best machines on the farm. Powerhouse on the pit. Mucks out like a beast. Transit from farm a/b/c is rapid. Feeding up speedy as out. Does fencing good. Can run bedding machine off it no bother. Only probably is it doesn't fit in every shed. But then we have a 2nd smaller hydrostatic telehandler that does all that. Both get lots of use. If we only had a loader tractor we'd be buggered, so much wasted time.

I thought the same until I bought one 2 years ago. The tractor just has the fert spreader on her now, the handler does most of the yard work and fencing now.

Spoken like a man who has never owned one. The stuff you can do with it and time you can save ( probably wouldnt pay for it's in saved time but we need it to load the Keenan. Need a tractor 250 hp tractor to fit a large enough loader too)

Once the dairy cows go it's going to be a massive over capitalisation having one but I won't go with out it.
