Lots of guys working in supermarket store butchery departments saying they can't get produce to cut. The supply chain over there is falling apart and I believe the abattoir and primary cutters have been hit quite hard by covid. Lots of stories of animals being put down to serve no purpose as the chain cannot deal with them and the next batches are already in the system.
No point importing if you can't process the home grown stuff.

That last sentence would apply to UK would it not? Replace the word process with sell?

Undoubtedly, though as it was a thread about America I simply stated what is being said in a lot of Facebook groups for meat cutters and processors that I'm in.
There was even talk about the US government making the killing houses and cutters essential work places with compulsory attendance and other such draconian measures. I really hope they bashed that idea on the head.

If you watch the video what Trump says is that unless it’s with a country they have a good and historical past with they should maybe look at stopping importing their beef. I assume the UK is clsssed in that.

There is a lot of reporting of what the left leaning media would like everyone to believe Mr T said, rather than what he actually said. In almost all matters.

the 'big' boys of usa meat trade, decided as plants were hit by c19 and union problems, they could import cheaper beef, for bigger profit, posted a link from USA re this, problem was, the imports, and euthanasia of cattle, chickens and pigs, because of no killing plants, didn't suit USA citizens, backfired big time.
Only wish our citizens were as patriotic, might shove 2 fingers up larries nose.
