Seems like we are starting yet another what ute thread.

So I will summarise now to save everyone some bother,

The Ford is massive

The d max will fill its sump with diesel,

the Nissan will either blow up or snap in half,

the Mitsubishi is.......... well who the feck wants one of them anyway, same goes for the Great Wall,

The Anorak is just bloody expensive.

there all good,

there all shite

They will all be fecked and worthless by the time they are 10 years old,

You need a defender.....................As long as you remember they are cramped, leaky, underpowered, not made any more, as the 18th design is unsafe and will rust as fast as the rest.

There that should do it.

Edit

Just remember that for the vast majority of the time most farmers could probably manage quite well with a comedy Citroen Berlingo van!

Edit......... Again

The hilux, The Talibans favourite 4X4X far. To be a true hilux owner you really need to have a fuzzy beard, wear a bed sheet and carry an AK47 everywhere you go. You will also need a machine gun mounted in the back operated by a fuzzy bearded, bed sheet wearing colleague. Hardly a good example of christian. motoring so there out as well:angelic:

DMax . Isuzu's new 3.0 diesels bear no resemblance to the old 3.0's which destroyed their reputation as a 4x4 manufacturer. In fact it's closer related to the old 3.1, so all the problems with injector seals, injector sleeves, ORPs sensors, high pressure oil pumps, wiring looms, cracked oil pick-ups, mixing diesel and water, etc, are in the past.

I'm guessing that the Hilux is so bad it doesn't even warrant a mention?[emoji2]

D-Max here and love it, no issues in 20,000 miles, sump oil is issue free to boot!! It's done 60,000 miles so far, had it 2nd hand when I bought it.
My agronomist has an Anorak, he likes it, says it gets stuck a lot and tyre noise is quite high, especially from the fronts but overall he is happy with it. I will say it does seem a bit bigger than my D-Max and the opposite inside, smaller!!

My 2012 Amarok has 120k miles on the clock, (had 100k when I got it in 2014!) and no issues. Would have another, though I think I'll run it on to 150k miles by which time the new defender may be here?

Nissan NP300 Don't look at anything else...
Not sure I agree with that, tried one recently and was left underwhelmed. Forward visibility is crap with those stupid bonnet humps, ( surround camera system, helps, if you look down at the screen, but picture quality was dubious) used more diesel than my Dmax towing the same weight and when we tried a 3 tonne loaded trailer behind it , sat on its bump stops and handled like a jelly. Supposed to have it for 3 days, took back after 1.Not for me, but to be honest I don't reckon there's much difference between any of them, down to personal choice/best deal and for me, best dealer/back up. Amarok worth the premium over the Dmax ? Well, thats a matter of personal choice as well, but I don't think so.

Can't comment on the new Hilux that's due any time or the new Nissan but out of the rest I reckon it's between the Ranger and the Anorak. Personally having looked at and driven a Dmax the 3.2 Ranger wipes the floor with it!

I have had a DMax, Navara and Ranger out on demo last week.

DMax - was ok, much better than our 13 year old Navara D22 but not as good as the others I tried. First to second gear under load is a big step. Typical pickup bounce when unloaded or when towing an empty trailer to the point of being uncomfortable.

Navara - very refined, loads of 'toys', loads of power, comfortable but the coil springs in rear just don't work if you are loading the rear or towing up to the 3.5 tonne limit and somehow just didn't sit well on rough roads. Not for me, I left it back and enjoyed the drive home in the Berlingo so enough said...

Ranger wildtrak - beat them all, best for ride, handling, towing, comfort, best seats, power delivery is unbelievable from the 3.2

Haven't tried a VW, only tested those with 3.5 tonne tow capacity.

If you go for the Ranger forget the stick shift. Go for the auto it's great, even with 3.5 ton on the back. I always thought the TD5 disco was a good stable vehicle for towing if a bit (well a lot) on the steady side. I was wrong the Ranger is far more stable.

Yep, it was an auto ranger I had out. I had a Disco 3 for the past 4 years and blew the engine a fortnight ago, only 74k miles!!! The ranger is as good as the Disco in every way apart from the permanent 4wd on the Disco was the dogs...

Yes the 4wd on the disco is better for towing. The auto in the Ranger is ok though, it means you can feed the power in to get things moving. I've only once had mine scrabbling with a trailer and that was a uphill start from traffic lights on a damp road with a load of cattle on. By contrast my old Mk4 stick shift Ranger would have needed 4wd to get moving in the same situation.

I did get a surprise with it the other week, I went with the cattle trailer to pick some bedroom furniture up, on the way back, down a bit of dual carridgeway I went to over take a car........ as you do. Then looked at the speedo and realised I was doing 80................I backed off at that point.
