just been offered some neighbouring land. I Have been DD for 5 years. The field has not been cropped for about 4 years, it's on heavy clay and is a lovely green lawn of black grass and associated weeds. It is against a road, what crops should I consider.
I am, in quiet dark moments considering ploughing it (I will do the birch stick beating for over a week).
Have others had success DDing into these sort of conditions. I do have CalcifertS which it needs.

I'd cut some beans in and roundup the cover off either before or after drilling, whichever is easiest. You've then got the option of chucking a bit more spray at it if too many weeds come back, with a view to harvesting the beans, or terminating it early and getting a good wheat in in the autumn. Cheap and cheerful.
