Another 956xl issue: engine heat relay

Another one for the old girl! A year or two back we unplugged the heater coil on the intake as the relay was always on with the key. Had a bit of an investigation and I see the relay has four small wires going to it as well as the two for the heater power. What do these small wires do? Two for the solenoid I guess but that then leaves two more. Does the relay use a temperature signal of some sort for the timing of the coil or am I barking up the wrong tree?

the other question is whether the coil should only activate on the normal spring position on the key?

Basically though you turn the key to ignition on, if the ambient temperature is 5°c or below the heater light & heater element should come on for approximately 30 seconds, when the light goes out you turn the key to start.

I have a diagram of this relay somewhere, I'll see if I find it for you.

Thank you. Your post made me realise I am barking up the wrong tree: the relay has its own temperature sensor and the other wires are for the power from the key and a line back to the dash for the heat bulb.
New relay it is I reckon.

This is the cold start relay.
