Another kick in the teeth for red tractor

It's not only RT membership declining .....their inspectors are walking as well !

The big problem will be that the only inspectors left will be the 'little hitler' types who like their position and will stick to it .
Whilst I am happy to criticise RT, I am not going to criticise their inspectors - speak as you find - Ive dealt with several over the years and I have yet to meet one (male or female) that wasnt pleasant and helpful. Most understood the feeling against RT, most agreed with our grievances. Ive obviously been luckier than a lot of you but thats my experience.

Precisely that.

But the devil's in the detail, and there lies the problem!

Too much detail.

Take the workers accommodation standards, if the farmer "sells" the caravan to the worker for his accommodation then it then sits outside of RT .
I know some RT inspectors refuse to go into workers private accommodation, and rightly so.

If Beef and lamb have only lost 10% I'd be very surprised.
Is this for real?

The fact that they pretty much walk through the yard on the way to the house to sit and do paperwork for 2 hours is the joke!
Just had RT inspection, needed IPM PLAN to be completed 203 guestions which they say can be filled in 30 minutes, thats 8.8 seconds a guestion.PHEW.

This month's CLA magazine happens to have an article extolling the virtues of RT:-

'RT is a leading food chain assurance scheme that underpins the high standards of British food and drink.'
'Around 75% of British agricultural produce is assured through RT and partner schemes.'
'The scheme provides benefits for all. It has been independently verified as a world leader in food chain assurance.'
60,000+ inspections every year
'Findings from our post inspection survey shows that our assessors are consistently rated highly, and around 90% of members believe the time taken for assessments is reasonable.'
'RT provides an opportunity for the UK to reinforce its leadership position in delivering exceptional food quality and standards that are affordable for all.'

Well at least they finally admit that they are gold plating for no premium.

This comment is directly aimed at red tractor.

if you read these rt threads and we all know you do if you look carefully you will see the amount of likes the various comments get.

My alert box had an awful lot of them this morning.

If nothing else you should get and understand the sentiment and feeling that your scheme rules are causing.

Now the question is why don’t you do something about it to get the farmers who pay your wages onside?

you can see what’s happening currently isn’t working and your in the process of losing your jobs over it!

I also hear that the Russians don't target civilians.

We grow to UK law. But there's seemingly not a mill in the UK that think those laws are good enough.

Assurance schemes (note plural) started as a way to give a defined premium for gold plating. Now, unlike any other country I can find, we have one scheme. A defacto mandatory scheme. That pays no premium.

This situation is seemingly supported by organisations who are supposed to a) represent farmers and/or b) exist to promote access to markets.

You all know my thoughts. A credible alternative, swiftly, or we dismantle these organisations.

and i have the opposite opinion of red tractor ...
.....in that they are just the shite that has to be to washed of my boots.

I certainly didnt go into farming all those years ago to end up pandering and paying my hard won wages to that lot of con merchants .

RT have the same arrogance stance as the EU had about the UK.

Both never listened to the whinges and concerns of their members until it was too late.

Just hope that RT fail now, as they have produced nothing but sress, aggravation and cost to farmers for absolutely no reward.

Unfortunately I do wonder if DEFRA will take their side and bail them out with a bigger part to play in the inspection process. I did once ask @Janet Hughes Defra if information was exchanged between the two of them. Never did get an answer.....which is probably answers the question !!
