there are few on the market i have not used a one but have used HIKVision camera and rate them pretty highly , they do a few versions how do you intend to use it though ??
I would imaging getting access to a database of nationals vehicle reg nos would be difficult ,if you were trying to identify criminal activity creating a database for yourself of your own vehicles probably much easier but is that any easier than just issuing and using a remote or keyfob ?

upkeep of the database could be an issue as you would have to enter and remove new and old reg no's plus tractors don't have front no plates. plus you may need a camera to get and one to get out

something like a paxton electronic access system allows you just as much control over access and keeps a log of who has come and gone and allows people to be locked out or in or time controlled and pretty simple to use.

Thanks. Interestingly just upgraded all our old Panasonic IP cameras with 8 new PTZ units from HIK - actually they’re HiView PTZ-N2404I-DE3 units. Basically they’re HIKVision

I reckon they’re amazing quality and bang for the buck at around £120 each for 4 megapixel, 350-degree PTZ and H265+ video comp. Gobsmacking good against the competition if I’m being honest.

I was aware that some of their cameras were ANPR capable, but would be good to know performance etc against dedicated units.

I too would be quite interested to know how people get on with ANPR cameras controlling access, it would be great if there was an affordable ots solution for this.

Sure. Do I get a spotters fee? :p

The only downside to these, is the lack of built-in mic, although there is a line-in input which I haven't played about with as I've just taken down the old ones, and put these in their place. The video quality and general build is very good for the money.

Perfect Thanks there are so many people selling hikvision and some grey imports I just wondered where they came from. The hilvision cd-2042 are excellent cameras just want some ptz as well.

Have been searching online and from the HIKVision stable it looks like it’s down to these two models for ANPR duty...like the look of the new entry level one, seems pretty good from the YouTube review below.
