Email from Red Tractor this morning
From the update
What is new?
As of the 1st June 2018 the use of Highest Priority Critically Important antibiotics must be a last resort and their use must be under the direction of a vet, backed up by sensitivity or diagnostic testing
STANDARD: AM.b.1
It is recommended that at least one member of staff responsible for administering medicines has undertaken
training and holds a certificate of competence.
HOW YOU WILL BE MEASURED:
Training courses include but are not limited to MilkSure, City & Guilds,
Lantra, veterinary-run training courses
RECORDS:
Certificate of Competence / Certificate of Attendance
Although we have tried to make sure that we don't use any HI CIA's on tthe farm in the last few months (one treatment with Readycef) this is going to be more restrictive and you do wonder if vets are still going to be allowed to use HI CIA's in small animal practice
