Thinking of adding a turbo to the dx3.9 has any one done this? Not looking for huge power gains. A bit like the turbo added to the old massy 698. Is there much that needs doing to allow the engine to cope. It might be a non starter but interested in exploring the idea.

All the air cooled units have piston cooling - the differences are in the size of the oil cooler and the size of the blower fan - thermostatic controlled on the turbo engines.

Use the turbo and manifold as on the 4.50 / 4.70 and leave the fuelling as it is but add another oil cooler / fan, and be very careful how hot she gets !

I e been doing a bit more delving, spoke to Bryco. Old boy there said they did a light turbo package for the 912. Gave me a turbo part number and pdf of the standard and turbo specs. Exactly the same apart from the output and exhaust temp. I’ll add a larger oil cooler with an electric fan up front to give it the extra cooling required.

Get the temp gauge and sensor rather than the "I'm cooked" idiot light the non-turbos have.

Found a turbo to go on it. Probably much won’t happen until hay is sorted and a few other jobs are finished. Like the front pto etc. [emoji849]
