Any lavander growers?

My brother has a 1ha 3 year old lavander plantation and after seeing how it performed in the first two production years, i think it might be an interesting investment.

Does anyone know of any larger scale plantations?

a company round here grow quite a few acres, distill the oil and have it made into numerous product they then retail off. harvested with a specially modded forager.

a lady near me has planted an acre or so, she had to do a lot of soil improvements to make the land free draining. I think it comes down to how you market the end product

You will need to invest in processing kit and be keen to get into value added oils, soaps, scents to really make it pay

Used to be one up at Aboyne in Deeside in the 80-90s.
Grows well in my garden, but doubt the oil yields would be high enough to be commercial.

Seemed to be grown in Croatia on a commercial scale years ago when we visited.

Have a look at Hitchin Lavender, think they earn as much from visitors and the tea room!

One of the more colourful crops, apart from opium, grown in Tasmania. Similar re visitors paying to look-see. Opium is grown in pieces of pie section irrigated by large mechanicals. Water is now a political issue.
