Not really, ive got 4 tractors on 75 acre and sometimes think thats too many, not that keen on 1490s from a drivers point of view, the 94s were far better. There a few bits off this i want, sooner rest is gone the better lol

Was there much difference between the 90s and 94s. No such thing as too many.maybe from an accountancy point of view it could be argued that a lot of farms should only have one machine on paper but how do u put a value on having a spare handy machine to use when ur pushed in a busy period

Lots of little differences that made them easier to live with, i run both and id always take the 94 as opposed to the 90 if i can, the pair of 94s do 75% of the work here, the 90 series with loader is more or less confined to the yard, and the cabless 990 only comes out in the sunshine, if we ever get any more

Haha What's sunshine is that that mythical orange thing in the sky that I remember from my childhood. We ran four DBS a 950 imp, 880,995 and 1210 still got the 1210 then we changed to Nash in the early 80s so growing up I never had much to do with the later browns so my knowlage of the 90s and the 94s isn't very good

this 1490 is basically a 1212 with a better cab and different tinwork, Db didnt really build "new" models when they changed the ranges of tractors, they just modified the existing ones

My old man says that's what put him off them he didn't think they had moved on so he bought a new 785xl which I pointed out was a 674 with a better cab.

take the gearbox out of a late 80s 1394 synchro and put it next to an early 40s VAK1/ cropmaster. Apart from the 12 gears in the 1394 to the 6 of the cropmaster, thats about the only difference. When they went from 6 speed boxes to 12, they didnt re-design the 6 speed to fit 6 more in, they bolted a 2 speed range change on the front of the box to give 2 different input shaft speeds. Thats why they have such a complicated gear sequence i guess

thats been around a while, bloke is having a job to move it on i think. If i was gonna convert an engine on a DB, just for show purposes, id put a late 1494 turbo engine into a early 990 selectamatic chassis, with high geared reductions and all the extras, spools, puh, weights, etc. Ive partly done it already, have oversize wheels, weights, spools, puh and a bitsa 1210/1494 engine (non turbo), the original had frost damage like a lot of them get

track rod ends need changing, but think steering ram is ok, its early type with circlip banjo fittings instead of the threaded elbows

You taken all the shims out of the ball pegs on yours?

will be getting it off soon as lambings over , as theres a hell of a lot of play in steering ram underneath on the newer one, had a brush fitted to the front and used industrially before we had it so think it has worn the mounting pin out or the seals have gone ,really well up together low houred machine apart from vague steering with weight on the back , lol
