Anyone grow Buckwheat

Just been reading up on buckwheat and it seems an ideal catch crop in that it leads little nitrogen is ready in six weeks, good protein levels and palatable.

what’s the catch

Yep, agree @spin cycle but harvested as hay or haylage it looks a good bet on paper, lot better than some other catch crops for the farmer and everything else

Organic Neighbour has a fair few fields in but i think its struggling, straight in after the plough with big gear & land imho was far too RAW when the lads did it all.

the catch is it can be a photo toxin burning ears etc like rape
it's ment to be good at sucking up P in the system. so crops better after it
