I'm getting a bit twitchy, not spread any yet, has anyone?

I'm getting worried it's getting late but don't want it to tend up in a river! I'm thinking of going Wednesday as its looking dryish during the day and Thursday?

What sort of rates for urea on silage ground and grazing g ground would people be going at?

Was thinking 100kg/acre for silage ground and 50kg for grazing would be enough?

All done it around here last week be it granular or liquid.
Bet all down river as not stopped raining since?
That's my worry

It ain't cheap

But neither is no grass

Such an easy job this farming

I'm just looming at the forecast and after Tuesday night it's dry until Friday... is that enough time for grass to take it up??

It's warm and growing

Caught it towards the end of Feb and did everywhere that wasn't steep, grass definitely looks a better shade of green and is growing so must have done something but probably more rain than ideal since in fairness.... If you can't travel you can't travel, don't let it beat you up, but as soon as you can go for it. I rarely regret putting it on.

I would normally go 25-30kg/Ha in mid Feb and 30kg/Ha in mid March then after every grazing; rate depends a bit on time of year and dirty water application. That's all for grazing.

Dairy farm here 400 miles north of you put some on last week. God knows where it is now.
I would have some patience until you can travel easily as grass will catch up.
You lose 2 units a day if no growth

Yes … twice to bring it up to 1st cut requirements … which we could do tomorrow if really necessary although the ground wouldn’t take the weight yet
Grass has never stopped growing this “winter”

No.
Wanted to do the whole farm with a small dose of urea, not that bothered now as it’s rained biblically since. Where we’ve already grazed has greened up nicely again, not measured recently but expect it to be growing at 15kg+.

Going to clean up all the winter aftermaths with the mower/forage wagon as soon as get a chance and put fert/slurry on straight after, too much grass/too wet to put slurry/fert these last few weeks.

Been an absolute 💩 year. Nothing applied to anything here either. Winter Barley and OSR desperate. Had another 22mm yesterday. Concrete in yard dry this afternoon. Walked the barley fields to ascertain just how soft the wet patches are 🤦
Going to have a go tomorrow if stays dry overnight and doesn’t rain tomorrow.
Depending on any organic muck applied I reckon 100kg Urea might be a little light for first cut …….. but you know your ground and grasses better than any of us on here. I usually aim for 110-115 units N/acre for 1st cut. If you use up 2 units per day you need to reckon back around 55 days from cutting date. So it’s time to get it on !!
