Winter barley next week if the surface dries a bit. Winter wheat end of month.
Direct drilling so can’t risk it too late. All stubbles sprayed off today.
Well, my lads have pushed hard last year and this to go earlier than I’ve ever felt comfortable but it worked well last year so, our barley is all drilled up and we will be starting on 1st wheats on Friday.
After couple of weeks of rain, dry last few days, so started drilling barley today. Bit earlier than ideal, and recon soil very warm, but might be only dry week of the Autumn. Who knows.
Hardly enough moisture to germinate the seed on the heavy land, so might be a while before emergence.
Cover crops after barley a while ago, after maize this week. Short term leys in last week, multispecies leys into grazing platform yesterday. Bean/oat mix today, barley as soon as the last of the seed arrives. All direct tine drilled.
Ploughing up nicely here after 100 mm rain past week … just trying to hold back on sowing as soil temperature has to be warm after all the dry, warm weather.. Day temperatures still high
There's thousands of acres drilled and growing in the east Scottish Borders our neighbours started at least 2 weeks ago on wheat .
We just started on Mon past which is probably 5 days early for us stuff that's usually heavy and wet is ploughing over nicely after last weekend's rain
