Anyone thinking of sowing !

Do you ever think that early sowing leads to yields compromised? Just interested in opinions .. ploughing myself and going to start Saturday!

After couple of weeks of rain, dry last few days, so started drilling barley today. Bit earlier than ideal, and recon soil very warm, but might be only dry week of the Autumn. Who knows.

Hardly enough moisture to germinate the seed on the heavy land, so might be a while before emergence.

Cover crops after barley a while ago, after maize this week. Short term leys in last week, multispecies leys into grazing platform yesterday. Bean/oat mix today, barley as soon as the last of the seed arrives. All direct tine drilled.

Just finished spraying stubbles off, so next week will start on w.barley and rye. Last week sept before any w.wheat goes in.

Just watching forecast closely, as it just feels like a wet autumn is highly probable!

All cover crops been drilled and 4/5 are out now.

Ploughing up nicely here after 100 mm rain past week … just trying to hold back on sowing as soil temperature has to be warm after all the dry, warm weather.. Day temperatures still high
