Can you have an AFU under one set of TB rules, and still operate the holding under another? I thought the whole lot had to be either under .TB2 or not. No isolation units any more, etc.:scratchhead:
From what I have read the AFU has to have its own holding number so wouldn't be affected by our home holdings status

Are you sure that's correct? I went to a meeting with animal health and they reckoned they were stopping licensed units in tb4s
Given the arse and elbow trouble they've got here, who knows.

EDIT:

LFU in low risk area, AFU in high risk. AFU can buy in from restricted herds and sell on to another AFU. LFU is finishing only, no rearing, and only movements to slaughter.

We couldn't do the first test until 60 days after the last on movement and they also clashed with post movement tests. We didn't have the case confirmed through cultures until just before Christmas and even then had to wait for a slot with the vet. Then APHA announced that we needed to Gamma test and then retest. We had positives at Gamma so then you can't do an SIT until 60 days after they have left, which didn't happen for 2 weeks after the test.

After we hadn't heard the results of the 10% of the gamma tests that had to be redone I rang the tb hotline rather than our APHA vet. They offered to put an application in to move on, this had been flatly ruled out previously.

The problem up here is that the APHA are understaffed and unfamiliar with all the rules. While I liked the APHA vet it doesn't help that English is not his first language and my father struggles to understand him at all. Add in the avian flu outbreak and a little self contained tb outbreak doesn't get a look in.

Our neighbours haven't heard anything about radials either.

You have been badly advised as you should have been able to do a SIT test 60 days after the reactors went regardless of the cultures, as soon as you do one test book the next test with the vets ( even before you get the paperwork telling you to test )

You should have refused to do the blood test unless they agreed to let you buy in as soon as any cattle that were reactors had been taken.

Always question and re question them on everything they tell you.

Down here when you phone up they always say : oh you wont get a licence to try and stop you bothering to apply for one but 9 times out of 10 that is incorrect and you can get a licence if you push them hard enough.

I still don't think you're allowed to buy from tb1 with an LFU, but I stand to be corrected.
