What are folks using and why?

I write my own recommendations.

Still using a diary/paper based system for record keeping but looking at Green light grower and the like. As a luddite I want something easy to use, idiot proof which can maintain stock check and be portable on Android which I am told Green light doesn't do??

Gatekeeper, but for admin reasons - consultants etc have access & it adds credibility to the figures. It's also a one stop shop for most of the arable costs, nutrient management plans, mapping, precision farming data, the Sentinel database for spray labels etc. A big headline cost, but it does a lot if you learn what it is capable of.

Spray/fert/drilling sheets are done on paper. It really isn't a problem & I prefer it to 2-3 tablets that get scratched/broken in cabs.

We’re using Geofolia from Landmark.
They bought over Farmdata software which we used cropdata, so we got Geofolia free.
It’s got mapping, stocks control, nutrient budgets, everything really.
Got an app for the phone also. Handy for checking application/sowing dates etc out in the field.
Although I’ve noticed most agronomy companies seem to be going with greenlight for recommendations.

Greenlight for me, used cropwalker before that. Agronomist changed to it a couple of years ago so even better now. I do all the spraying and most of the fertiliser so just plug everything into my phone as i do it. Used to use an ipad but no need these days. It is apple only but you don’t need an internet connection for it to work.

Only issue i have with greenlight is the nutrient management side doesn’t account for both total and available N. Only really a problem if you use a lot of organic manures and have problems other people are interested in.

Green light is ok but they are no longer developing it so I think it will fall by the wayside, I’m not laying all that money for something they don’t improve.
Got a demo of something not yet to market next week which looks very interesting and ‘may’ finally be the answer
What have you heard re. Greenlight and where from? Press release? TELUS Ag have only just bought it haven’t they? Why invest then ditch??

I get on well with Gatekeeper, expensive, yes but does so much and probably much more than most need. Mapping is it’s only downfall And unfortunately that really is dreadful.

I actually can’t remember, I heard it from numerous sources. I will try and work out where I heard it from tomorrow. I’m sure there was a press release or something.

the last update was on 6.1.23, prior to that they were fairly regular. Go onto help then scroll down and release notes. Pretty convinced they have stopped support of it.
