Are desktops old hat?

I must confess I have paid the 60 pounds and gone MS office for the above reason. You cant send anyone anything by email unless you are careful to choose the right file format.

I found libreOffice otherwise excellent.

I use Libre Office. Not a massive lot though. It suits me for the amount of work I do with it. It's powerful and totally free.

I would buy the kids something cheap off ebay If I compromise the security on my desktop I can only blame myself!

Thanks for everyone's input. Have just got my desktop back from our local PC shop who have upgraded items in the computer and it seems to be running fine, and a lot quicker than it was! and for under half the price of a new computer. Great service and feeling a little smug for using a local shop!
