are green Polish made drum mowers any good?

it is not for me as we have finished farming... but my cousin's mower is about worn out so will need something for next year. I have seen photos of drum mowers made in Poland , they are green and look similar to the Fahr KM22 but know nothing about them, so can I give my cousin good news thanks in advance

A friend has a Talex, dose a job but I have had to weld the headstock back together. I think they have beefed up the headstock on the new ones a bit so may be ok now.

Having purchased a piece of Polish kit, ( not a mower ) a phrase springs to mind, " you get what you pay for " they're ok, but be prepared for a bit of maintenance ;)

I had my 4 year old polish sprayer through an MOT today. A few llittle things wrong like a couple of leaky pipes but nothing actually wrong with it just little niggly things. Fine for light use if I was doing a lot id get a better one but like you say you get what you pay for.

If the green one you're talking about is a Samasz...(or however it's spelled)........

We're very hard on mowers, due to igneous issues (and generally heavy handed incompetence I admit), and are on our 2nd.
We do manage to break them, but I've found our trusty man/van/box of spanners can source a part affordably from the importer -who has proved very reliable, straight and sensible- and fix em.
This has not proved to be true of others.
Gave up on whatever PZ is branded now (kuhn?) , as the quality seems to have nosedived.
Tried expensive (German?) Fella, but single impact with boulder resulted in eyewatering parts bill, and it still wasn't right.
Another el cheapo eastern European was such a pile of pants it might as well have been made of cheese.

Samasz and Talex are the main Polish brands. Both are good.

There are some other, lighter brands but they tend to be a bit lightweight for our needs - they’re designed for those little twin cylinder Ursus tractors.

Adjust lower link pins maybe.
Undo lock nut to slide in or out to adjust tracking .
Had it adjusted out as far as i could but it still wouldn't completely clear the back wheel , the pto shaft was at a bad angle too, ended up selling it and buying a krone disc mower, no problems whatsoever with that and clears the wheel track easily

I found the same, samasz 165 wouldn't clear the back tyre on a ford 4610 !!
There is no reason why a standard 165 mower wouldn’t clear the back wheel of a 4610. I’ve had several and all fit tractors of that size or larger, such as Massey 290s or my old Renault 75-34.

Did you buy it new? It sounds as if you’ve had one of the compact models - I have a new 135 mower in, now, with that arrangement. They have a shorter crossbar and headstock to suit larger compact tractors and MF 135s, etc.
