Are you a bit too busy?

Aye up,

We have just opened an email from a supplier telling us that they will be closed on Wednesday because the staff have worked hard lately and need a day off for the good of their mental health.

What a complete load of feckun horse shite.

Surely if they were that busy they would employ more people?

If we ran a business like that then I would expect to be out of it pretty soon!

I understand that mental health is very important, but this is just claptrap.

I think I am so far out of touch with the world there’s no way back.

Outrageous, who do they think they are? Why can't they just clear off early on Friday for lunch in the pub like the rest of us?

I despair at all this, farming .Rain, snow and sodding heat waves we are out there feeding and ensuring stock are ok,crops harvested to put food not only on our table but the public.I am fed up of hearing oh but it’s a professional job well farming is.How many of us could if pushed turn our hand to most jobs ( maybe not surgery etc) I would like to see some of the snowflakes manage farming stress levels. It’s too hot I’m in a bad mood and the baler having a hissy fit.

A local Company here not farming related had a piece done in the local rag re going to a 4 day week citing stress as the main reason. Lets just say the comments section was interesting. But there does seem to be some group or movement trying to push this but am unsure what our local council will do as they appear to have been on a 4 day week to start with so guess they'll be wanting 3 day week.

Folks have lost the plot since covid/ lockdowns.
Ordered some cab trim/ bits a month ago. Keep emailing them to find out what's 'appening, but 3 members of staff so far have disappeared on holibobs. Country's had it. Nobody wants to pick anything, make anything, deliver anything........ Talk from the unions of 4 day weeks now. Presumably company owners will have to employ extra staff to make up the hours. Prices will then have to go up......then the very same people will moan about the increase in prices, and mutter about the " cost of living crisis ".
not everyone has lost the plot, broke my belt buckle, ordered a new belt from Amazon, next day it was being delivered, great service, no wonder it seems to be taking a lot of the business for other retailers.

Why on earth should a company not decide they can let their employees have a day off in the week? Perhaps some of them are working early/late the rest of the week to get stuff done.
They even had the courtesy to give their customers notice, presumably so that if someone wanted something from them on Wednesday, they could do it today or tomorrow, or Thursday, or Friday instead?!

Judging by the replies on here they should have not bothered to let anyone know and just pretended their phone line had gone down for the day.

Why do some people think its a competition on how many hours they can work?

C’mon @BenB you should know the only way to live is to work constantly, making yourself worn down, miserable and bitter in the process
Where would be the fun in farming without that 😉

Unfortunately it seems a pattern since covid that no one wants to work anymore BUT I do not have a problem with folk having time off for holidays events or family stuff.
Having a work ethic and being happy in your work is very important in my mind for Anyones health be it mental or physical.
Just very glad I’ve got Pete delivering in 40 plus degrees out in Libya

I think it is not the day off bit is pissy off, some of these people will be the same ones grumbling they are not paid enough and the cost of living crisis is affecting them, Its the want it all opinion is wrong, You have to remember , why the privileged west can live like this is because the poor of this world are being shafted to give us that privilege. Many in this world are working in sweat shops barely being able to afford to buy a meal a day ,like the poor were in industrial revolution britain, JUST its out of sight to us.

Not if your reliant on the services they offer .....
Happened couple of weeks ago here ,took a pipe down about quarter to 4pm on a Fri to get it fixed cos the firm wouldn't be open on Sat ...... can't do it sir ....we finishing at 4 today ,boss said cos it's been a busy week we can go early .....and they flopping wouldn't cos by the time they had repaired it and done the paperwork it would be gone 4 pm .
...any other day it's a 5 pm finish 😬😬😬
Local bearing/oil pipe family run firm I’ve phoned up at 4:30pm in the winter asking if I can use a press for a few hours. Left at 2am one night pressing bearings for a beet cleaner and harvester. Fantastic service! Their big customers get the mobile numbers of all the staff so if something major needs fixing like combine or mower bearings/ pto shafts out of hours they’ll get the part out for you 👍🏻

The banks are useless, the staff wonder why their losing their jobs yet they put in a machine to take cheques 🤦🏻‍♂️ Went to the bank last year and they directed me to the machine although the woman(fatty) that pointed me there was doing nothing, tried inputting the cheque via machine and it wouldn’t work, fatty then waddled from her desk over to the cheque paying in machine and tried to put it in. She then looked at the cheque and said it was to much to go in via machine, well I could have told her that hence why I went straight to her cashier desk 🤦🏻‍♂️
