Don't you understand? People have paid to be candidates. They are being denied the chance so surely their money deposited for this purpose should be returned to them on principle. If you paid a deposit on, say, a sofa, and that sofa was subsequently found to be permanently out of stock, you would surely want your deposit back.

As to Forage trader, if you paid the deposit for the sofa and YOU pulled out of the deal, you would not expect your deposit back. However it was not the depositer who pulls out of this deal, it is Nigel. Any trader who pulled this one would be deemed a crook and I bet that regardless of the terms, which are not meant for this scenario, they would be morally and legally obliged to return the deposit. Or maybe that is how Forage Trader does conduct his business, because he pretends to see nothing wrong with it.
