While you’re buying your SD card maybe you should buy a new calculator. Might be worth claiming the VAT back on both the items. The most expensive SD card on the Argos website is £39.99. I'd probably not worry too much about £3.67 in VAT, unless I was buying a box of them
39.99 / 120 (vat at 20%) = 0.33325 X 100 = £33.325 (cost less VAT)While you’re buying your SD card maybe you should buy a new calculator. Might be worth claiming the VAT back on both the items.
I think you have put a3 not a 6 by mistakeThe most expensive SD card on the Argos website is £39.99. I'd probably not worry too much about £3.67 in VAT, unless I was buying a box of them
Sorry, your calculator is right. Must be your glasses. Think you’ve typed the wrong number by mistake.39.99 / 120 (vat at 20%) = 0.33325 X 100 = £33.325 (cost less VAT)
39.99 - 33.325 = £6.665 VAT, unless I've missed something.
Annoys me when they ask do you want the receipt. Why ask just give me it and on we go.Why do these places not have the vat element shown on receipts as standard? What advantage is there not to show it,?
You don't really need that for a well known company.Below £250 you do not need a detailed Vat receipt, are you sure there VAT number is not on the back or bottom of receipt, this is all you would need.
If you have an Amazon Business account the prices are listed ‘plus VAT’ and bulk downloads of invoices for goods supplied by Amazon are possible. Some goods will be sold direct with or without invoices available and ‘facilitated by Amazon’ may require an invoice direct from the supplier.Amazon supply VAT receipts in A4 format.
Consumers cannot claim any VAT back so the VAT cost is irrelevant to them. All they want to know is the bottom line. Yes, many counter sales tills do not automatically print a customer VAT receipt or receipt of any kind apart for the shop’s accounting these days. Others, like supermarkets, do, and it is important you get one in case you are accused of walking out without paying. In other cases it is important in case an item is faulty and has to be returned.Annoys me when they ask do you want the receipt. Why ask just give me it and on we go.
An easier way to work the vat out is to divide the total by six, then multiply by five, it gives you the vat and net price, when vat is at 20%39.99 / 120 (vat at 20%) = 0.33325 X 100 = £33.325 (cost less VAT)
39.99 - 33.325 = £6.665 VAT, unless I've missed something.
