Artificial calf colostrum

I know the best answer is the real stuff but I'm in a corner where I need some artificial calf colostrum put by just in case (small number of cows in very remote location, no colostrum left in the freezer, the cow that had the dreadful summer mastitis is probably going to calve first !).
So if you had to buy the artificial stuff what make would you get & how much would you use?
Thanks.

We buy sachets of Volostrum, had good success with it when needed, one sachet is its total requirement fed in one feed generally. Think its about 16 quid a sachet

That's interesting. I didn't like lamb Volostrum at all when I tried it a couple of years ago. Found it very thick & it made the lamb constipated. Calf one must be different?.
We use downland colostrum for the lambs.... never had trouble with constipated, its thick enough but no thicker than some of the cows first milk

That's lamb colostrum

The only true calf colostrum replacer is the Immucol Platinum. Nearly £30 a sachet but achieves as good performance as real colostrum.

Study published (behind a paywall) that none of the others had sufficient antibody levels in to protect the calf, when fed as per instructions.

+1 for Immucol Platinum , its one 700g sachet per calf it is expensive but its definitely worthwhile. The platinum is a complete colostrum replacer, you underestimate how thick it is when you start mixing it for the first time ! , they also make a colostrum supplement which is 200g and comes in a 2 litre plastic jug which is handy for the calf's that might just not have had enough from their mothers. When required I give a platinum as a first feed, a supplement bottle as a 2nd feed if within 8 hours or so and then onto the powder.
