Sadly looking ahead to winter and equipment for the quad

Are ATV snow ploughs any good/worth purchasing?

Are heated handlebars & mits worth it?

My quad needs new tyres, any recommendations?

Cheers

BKT wing tyres I have found to be the best. Best value is to be found online.

Wouldn't bother with snow pushers and the like, just stick with gloves and a balaclava. If you can keep the wind out you're 90% of the way there.

Talking of atv equipment what are people's thoughts on this type of carrier, thought it's easier than taking trailer out to fill creep feeds with bags. Seems to be various carrying equipment available but would it put extra strain on a my Honda Forman 500?

I would be very cautious, rear rack rated at 80kg?, tow ball rated to have a nominal nose weight, perhaps 40kg?.
Where does all that additional weight bear onto?
It would probably be quite a handful at speed steering, and on inclines too.
I would be very surprised if manufacturers of utvs feel threatened;-)

A bit bonkers I'd say. We've got a Yamaha 550 and that's hard enough to get to go the right way with an average bloke on the back. I should think youd need at least 50 kg on the front permanently to make it useable and not too many bikes are designed for that kind of weight full time.

Over a grand too!

We make a frame and hand a fish box off the front. Don't use it for weight just bits and pieces, really. It will just lift off, only disadvantage, its in front of the main lights.
Not sure about the snow plough?

Have sold loads of Snow Ploughs and most people love them. Depends on how much snow you have. Upto 12" they work very well. Well known supermarket have 150 of them. Heated grips and thumb warders work very well as long as you don't buy poor quality ones . Tyres depends on what you want from a tyre. Also different types of land need different types of tyre. Do you want max grip or grip without making a lot of mess. Do you want wide oversize or standard width...

Hi @atvrob where abouts in Yorkshire are you?

Would want grip without making a mess.
Maxxis Rubicons do that well
Something like 25x12.5-12 rear
25x9.5-12 front
Rubicons are great but only 2 ply rating
Kenda Bearclaws are a good alternative but they are 6 ply rating so better puncture resistance
Based in York

we use the snow plough to clear our farm road and that of the neighbours and as long as you have a bit of angle on the blade and stay below the height of the blade it works very well. clear an amazing amount of snow with ours
