Michelin Cross Climates.

Any of the top brands, oponeo.com are usually the cheapest if you have a way of fitting yourself. Always been a continental man German car so German tyres, but they had Michelin supersports on special last time I needed a set.

I really rate the Vredestein Quatrac Pro I have on my XC90.

Excellent in mud with a caravan on the back and in the recent snow we had you couldn't tell the snow was there. Behave extremely well in the wet and in the summer too.

Costco is normally good on price for Michelin.. Usually running an offer aswell

So far:
Pirrelli Pzero - short life, good grip, also has good sidewall protection for your alloy wheels
Dunlop SP Sport - two sets, reasonable mileage, reasonably quiet
Michelin Primacy - expensive, quietest tyre so far, only on for 2k miles so not sure of longetivity.

I’d agree about the Pirelli’s but if you want grip they’re a pretty decent tyre. Trade-off of course is the soft(er) compound.

Sorry to encroach on yer thread Robert. Any more thoughts and experience on winter tyres folks?

I figure a decent set may be required this winter, and my summer tyres need replacing soon.

Michelin Cross Climate: Costco £152 all in. Blackcircles £138 all in.(all in is fitting and Vat) If you can reclaim the VAT it makes them £115.

Got nokian weatherproof on 2 vans, good off road and in the snow and ice, good on mileage and value for money. Also cross climates on 2 cars yet to see how good they are yet though.

Another vote for Michelin Cross climate.

I've a pair on the front of the van and will be shortly fitting a pair on the back when the Toyo snow tyres have worn away.

Loads of grip, not had any abs chatter under heavy braking since fitting them

My experience with the cross climate was that they didn't like going backwards in the snow especially up slopes. The car (XC90) was very susceptible to cross winds with them on and they got noisy as they were down. So far the Quatrac Pro show none of these traits.
