Auger feeds Into batch boilers

Has anyone any experience of this?

I’m chatting to the guys that now run the well known blue boilers about a mod they have due out soon.

Assuming it passes all regs, the theory is a large hopper feeds fuel into the chamber through a new hole in the door.

The benefits are more automation and thus less man hrs stoking which sounds good but...

I’m paranoid about augers blocking and causing issues. Fuel will be key, I use a variety and don’t want to be restricted.

Has anybody else successfully adapted a batch boiler.

The system is working perfectly well as it is so I’m questioning why I want to try and play around but the thought of loading a few times a week is luring me in.

Any thoughts welcome!

Ours is 7 years old and is on chip and never been a problem
it has a rotary valve?? Which chops bigger pieces of wood I believe

What boiler?

Guessing you have a screened chip.

For me it would be less processed, the grade A has shards in, if I go down the dried whole tree chip there will be a lot of fines.
