I think half my trouble is I really enjoy my job so I'm probably not looking at the bigger picture but if they could make an autonomous hedge trimmer I would be more enthusiastic! [emoji1360]

Trying to think where you are in the valley. I am moving the drill to Salisbury this afternoon could you wave when I go by:)

I'm all for technology and I think in many circumstances it can carry out work to a much higher standard but I just don't get how you all think it's going to save labour. Perhaps I will lose my job but I will be replaced by someone else looking after a load of malfunctioning robots!

Because it takes only one person to look after enough drones to replace 10 jobs...

However i think the agricultural sector won't be hit all that hard actually, you still need people on the farm after all just not in the cab any more.
But when it comes to areas like fast food restaurants we already see robots beginning to replace humans. Soon enough any McDonalds or Burger King, Subway etc.etc. will be staffed by just 1-3 people rather than the 15 that is the current average for a given McDonald establishment.
Next up is the truckers, in this field you'll barely see any new jobs created at all since we already have a system of controllers and mechanics / technicians but all the drivers will become unemployed in short order..

Even lawyers are about to be hit hard since computers are now better at reading/understanding contracts than the average human lawyer is, and all of a sudden many of the entry level / simpler lawyer positions are going to be replaced.

And the list just goes on and on and on.....
