Avian Flu and my Daughters Ducks

Aye-up,

my daughter has 7 pet ducks. They have two enclosed houses and two mesh pens. The pens are fully enclosed in 35mm mesh all round and over the top.

I considered making them another area with electric sheep netting around it, but that won’t be meshed over the top, just a moveable wire to give a clean area every few days.

I’m guessing the outdoor sheep net area probably isn’t a good idea now in view of the avian flu problem.

Can they still be let out of their houses into the fully meshed run?

There are no farmed birds for at least a mile that I know of, although anybody local could be keeping a few birds like we do.

I admit to knowing next to nothing about ducks!!

Cheers, Pete.

We are in the same boat Pete, 5 bloody call ducks and 3 bloody Cockerals!!!

Now got to try and work out a way to make a better area for them, which is covered and wild bird preventative..

To me I think you will be fine with your netted enclosures? Slightly larger hole size but you are allowed up to 50mm if heavy snow area.
