B414 gearbox problem.

Sorry posted first in wrong place. We have a B414 that's used for tedding and after harvest, it has found its self stuck in reverse. The gear stick will not move Reverse and first gears but second, third and forth will move freely.
My problem is how to remove the top of the gearbox., as the pipe from the hydraulic pump goes in to a block mounted on the front of the hydraulic arms casing. The gearbox top and also the block can't be removed as they block access to the bolts. Do I have to remove the hydraulic arms casing under the seat to get the top off the gearbox to see what the problem is. Are parts and any workshop manual available to repair it as she is a joy to use. Any help will be appreciated.

Yes unfortunately the hydraulic top cover needs to come off to get the top off the gearbox. Most probably you have a broke fork or just worn selectors that have tried to engaged two gears.

Here’s one I un seized a few weeks ago

Thanks for the information. I am based in West Wales and our local international parts suppler closed over 10 years ago. Do you have any information as to getting parts.

IF you need any parts Dave Shaw at tractorparts.co.uk has a good reputation.

But as others have said have a look in first.
Mursal has the right idea, pop out the gear lever & see if the all the selector slots line up.
If necessary you have to take the hydraulic top cover off, nothing fancy here though, just a ring of bolts & off she comes.
Then you can unbolt & lift off the gearbox cover & see what's going on.
The sliding selector rails can get very tight having picked up, but it's often a case of just taking them apart, dressing them up & reassembling.
Any wear can be build up with brazing or welding & dressed back to shape if struggling to get parts.

Thanks. Just had a look at the gear stick. How does the pin come out. There seems to be like a blanking disc either side of the pin. Do you have to drill it out to extract the pin.

They are just little core plugs & will pick out, after the pin should just knock out very easily.

Hello, I recently bought a 1968 international 434. The top gear box did not have the forks and shifter rails installed. To put it back together is there any measurements or anything to watch out for when reinstalling them?

Not that I’m aware of, just have all selectors in neutral and try and guide the forks into them. You will need the hydraulic top cover off aswell
