Backfilling against concrete panels

I’ve a new shed up that’s dug into a bank , we are going to be backfilling it but I’m worried about water seeping into shed . My thoughts were a drain round the perimeter and dpm up the whole outside .
Any suggestions?

kind of need to do it . There’s a 6ft death trap down one side of shed at moment

About to do the same.

My plan is A drain at the bottom then back fill with gravel, a good foot out. We will board and membrane as we go up, lifting the board up to keep soil and gravel separate.

It is quite high risk though

What do you mean by board ?

Just a trick to keep materials separate. Drop the Terram on the soil side then slide a sheet of ply next to it. Back fill with gravel and soil either side of board then gently lift it up as you go.

Terram then gets squashed between two materials, work your way up. Terram then stops soil migrating through gravel and blocking up drain.

We’ve done that before - perforated drain all around covered with gravel, then as we had plenty of conveniently sized field stones we sort of built a loose wall up the side of the building then filled with more stone then soil further away. 25+ years on and the shed’s still dry.

we did the same with a concrete block wall. coated the blocks with bitumen paint, backfilled with 15mm gravel with a 40?mm perforated drain. no sign of damp came through 15 yrs following.
