I was tempting myself to have one of those.

Tbh I’m not that bothered about anything that fancy anymore, most of our cattle go deadweight and there’s not much difference in price between the grades. I’m looking for less work with them.

We had a blue it was a cow killer absolute nightmare I think we only used it one summer and that was too much
It was in the early days it had legs like an elephant

Father used to run the incalf cows lean he was always in fear of big calves. I used to moan about them being lean but I have more troubles calving with cows on adlib silage than we did when he was in charge

I have a relative who keeps them lean and ends up with big calves but cows are half dairy bred

know a chap with pure limo and they are fit as fire but pop calves out no bother always staggers me

As much as I like good shaped cattle I’m getting to the point I just want to go in the shed and see a calf up and sucking. Everything that needs assistance seems to want it at bedtime as well

I know where you are coming from. Stakes have got so high nowadays that a death or the hassle isn’t worth the premium

Keep your chin up cocker.

Sheep have fired them out for fun this year even spied a few pushing them out backwards just an odd one needed a hand never lambed so few ewes. No pure texel tups ablut though…..

do you know the gestation length of the ones that have given trouble ?
limmy's tend to be longer than blues, your cross maybe has the gestation length of a limmy ?

This has always been my fear with cross bulls. Could get the best of both or the worst of both.

Same here in the way that the cows are painfully slow to calve and stulpid issues like a calf with broken hip today had to euthanise it about broke my bloody heart .

I've noticed we have odd years with more than one breach....but then they're fine, with none at all* years either side.

Same bulls, same cows, (and same pee poor level of nutrition.....)
*none that I see....who knows what happens when they calve themselves overnight

Been working a bull all his life- now struggling to find cows he can run with, and mostly used as a crossing bull on Galloways.
We once had to caeser a calf of his as it was monstrously big. The biggest calf I ever saw.
But he's worked years and years, and I seldom even have to give a calf of his a tug.
I'm thankful that monster wasn't in his first season...his head would've had to come right off, and I'd now be deprived of his fantastic offspring.

Things like that can go in run's
Ive just had 7 calf's in row present with one foot back
all from the same bull that i ve had for 3 years and never had a problem before

I’m afraid the bulls go out on a certain date and I leave them get on with it so only know when they are due to start
