Thanks for the link sherg. Did a search but came up empty for some reason. Long thread. Gonna take me awhile to get through it but looks like it has a lot of first hand info. Over seeded a 5 acre bft field that was getting thin on the advice of the local Uni's new forage specialist. we'll know more next year I guess.

.... what does the coldest wettest month mean at your place, please ??

Here I would call this the current weather with waterlogged soils at 2 to 5°C and regular rains to keep it saturated. Would Balansa love something like that ??

Just for the record, I'm on page 5 of 17 pages of the thread that didnt come up on my search. Been kinda busy .
It it seriously well here now.
I let the clovers in my younger pastures to drop their seeds last summer and there is now "a hatch" (y)
But the Balansa in the mix seems to be 'up there' in terms of vigour and early production and fixing N, for what it's worth.

Here it's about 10.2° avg temp, sea level, and 850mm reliable rainfall.
Good clover climate, balansa is ahead for a start at least.
