Just heard that a neighbour has been killed in a round baler accident while baling straw. Another reminder of how dangerous our industry is. Only be in his 40s with a family.

So sad and my heart goes out to his family...I took loads of risks when I was younger ,looking back its just make me quiver thinking how I got away with some things thankfully I did.

It's simply dreadful and the family involved have my real sympathy, as do all those others who have been affected by farm accidents. Our industry has a poor record. I'd like to call for a new approach to farm safety, as I really don't think the present one is working.

Knew a man who was pushing in hay into a blocked round baler with his leg and ended up in the baler.for luck a second person stopped the machine and he lived after a spell in hospital

One lad near here got dragged in and through by the leg when trying to release a blockage. Didn't survive. :(
Sympathies to all concerned.
