Baler control box. Bad design

why have john deere used a glass front for the display?
I know its not their fault for the damage but consider the enviroment around the box you would think the would have used a tougher material!

Have tried Dave king for repair but a 10 day turn around because they are so busy

Can you recommend any one else?

You can always open the box up n replace the glass with a piece of perspex like we did
was it a big job to open the box?
i think the lcd screen has had some damage as well but for now i just want to make sure that moisture doesn't get in

Hopefully just pressure on the LCD from the broken glass, when you lift that away the screen might be fine.
If you press on any LCD (inner envelope) you can make it look damaged ............

@Mursal i've just taken it apart and the lcd screen has some damage, looks to me it can be just pulled out and replaced, i have phoned my local JD for a replacement lcd screen but......... it's not listed.

As for the glass i will cut some clear 3mm acrylic with a lazer cutter i have so it will look spot on.

If any one has the part code number for the screen i would be very grateful.

Thanks for all the help so far

Consider giving Mr King another ring, he will know, just choose your words carefully, he might even post it out to you?
If you do get a free half hour to "go back in" for the manufacturer/numbers it might well be available on-line at a fraction of the cost.

if any one knows where i can get one

Dave king electronics were more than helpful but would not send me the part at all even though its just a matter of taking it out and putting a new one in
if i cant get one ill haveto send it away at the end of the season as they are flat out.

i have sent nearly every one an email so the wait begins.

I think i will just have to wait until the end of the season and ask David king to replace it!

Hi jet. How did you get on in the end did you manage to source and replace the LCD?
No not really

I changed the baler due to it having a problem opening the back door so i bought a mchale 5500 there and then. Best decision ever!
