Made 14,000 bales of hay/year (for barn drying) with collectors like these. Think the idea was that the bales weren't dragged along the ground - as in older drag sledges - less damage to strings, no soil contamination. BUT bales were usually twisted into all shapes by falling onto each other.

Bales were then hand-built into "stooks" or stacks for 17 bale transporters. Worst thing was breaking into the heap to sort out bales before building them into stacks.

Shortly after getting collectors we moved onto flat-8's. Nowadays don't touch a bale of any sort....

ohh they are bale collectors, i though it was a flat 8 sledge with a massive block up!!

10 pack is the way to go with conventional bales, 120/160 in a stack then trans stacker run and stack them in the shed!
