Bamlett PTO Mixer

Does anyone have any info or experience with this mixer? I believe it is a Romix
I have acquired one that seems in decent order but have a couple of questions:
Should the drum have teeth all the way around or 'sets' of teeth evenly spaced around the drum?
What chain should this model have on?

Having cleaned it up it seems to work 'okay but does have some chain slap or slip? Just wondering if the chain is stretched?

Any help/info much appreciated!

Remember getting caught many years ago with one as we had sold it to a friend with the understanding that standard chain (I forget the dimensions now) would fit it. He bought said mixer only to report back that the chain could not be obtained?

Never did get to the bottom of it, but at the time our local chains supplier said there was no problem with supply.
Yes they do have staggered teeth on the drum, so well worth looking into tensioning the chain, if you can?

Thanks.
The marking on the chain thats on it is 'the coventry S42' it would be good to know if this was the original chain that came on the mixer? The reason I think it could be a chain issue is that you can tension it easily via the bottom drive but this is on the minimum ie there's loads of scope to tension. When I have tried to tension it it actually makes the issue worse as the chain doesn't seem to fit correctly between the teeth on the drum. There seems to be too much slack one way and another position where the chain fits nice and rotates without lifting etc?

Have u a photo of the beast
We've got a romix
Had it for many years. Honestly don't know how old wen dad bought it. Poss new .
Only real issues for us was gear sticking inside we think drum geared a bit quick
And for us being on grey fergy with no position control.
Drums rotten now
Being on my mending list ...
Prob should be new section from gear to taper .

I wonder if you put a tensioner on the non driving side (that would be the left looking in from the shovel end) of the chain? Maybe a block of timber and turn it over by hand to test? Just a thought ............

@tomlad Sorry to be a pain in the arse but just wondered if you could check your mixer chain? If you could take a pic of the drive cog also that would be great. Not having much luck sourcing anything local and want to make sure it's all original. Thanks

Hi @Beachbum had a quick look today
My chain looks right in the very odd sprocket teeth on the drum
If that makes sense
No easy to tell in ur photos on my phone screen but urs doesn't look to fill the sprocket
Had a quick look for numbers but found nothing
I'll photo wen i get chance
I obviously have never took the cover over the chain off b4 as i didn't know how the teath looked. I'd pressumed it was just full teath .
My drums looking very rotten .

thank you, appreciate you having a look and any pics would be great.

yes on the drive side of the drum the chain doesn't quite line up with the teeth and therefore 'snaps' in to place once under load/tension.

the chain id on mine is on the two connecting links, identified by two really fine split pins.

let me if yours is beyond repair, i buy the chain off you! :)

Maybe throw a tape on the good chain?
Especially measure between the pins and the thickness of the rollers.
And number of links, just mark one and turn until it reappears ........
