just seen on grainman barley is about £140. Is anyone selling at these prices. Been talking to a few farmers round here and there is not much barley left to sell. Some are still getting £160 selling to neighbours as they are the only ones with barley to sell for 20 miles. Local merchant can’t buy any at anything under £155

Same here, it was 155 at harvest but it yielded disappointingly about the same as the spring barley and I was optimistic for a higher price to compensate... I’ve now resorted to feeding it to the lambs but that looks another monetary disaster looming!
I’m not sure it’s going to move any time soon based on this Uk mild weather

Your lucky you are in Yorkshire. In the South East where it has to go for export, FOB is £140 to calculate anywhere and it costs £5 to elevate at port, £135 DLD to port at best!!! So sub £130 ex farm??

I’ve been offered over 130 ex farm by all merchants this week and achieved nearer 140. As said it’s wanted in the north it’s just getting it there.

Its 160 up here. Buggar off ,stop sending your cheap stuff up the road.

Speaking to merchant today, she said there isn't much barley about, she'd struggle to fill a 1kt cargo. But no demand for it.

Why doesn't she get a 1k boat from Ipswich and haul it up there? @crazy_bull and I were discussing the difficulty of getting a haulier to take my barley to Yorkshire. In the end I found a local short who would pay more.

Wish I'd sold more earlier when I had the chance. The first lot went £172 del the next £167 and there's 4 loads going in next week at £155 delivered. The stuff remaining In the shed will struggle to make £130 unless things change nearer harvest.
Spring malting done ok, £185ex 2.1N.

Here in East anglia I'm being told that my merchants orders for March are fast filling up, and I must sell quickly as they are not marketing anymore before harvest.

Its a disaster this year makes you wonder whether its worth growing the ruddy stuff,
not as yet drilled any, though looking at early April ish to start,
We have about 350 tons left in the shed of over 1000 tons, was over £180 when first selling started and about £130 if your lucky now,
they have shut the books on forward sales, and we should of cleared the store before Christmas, hind sight a great thing when you get it right,
Will have to keep the old push bike again for another year.:banghead::cry:
