Twit?
And in English its.......The female says Twit to the male, and he answers Who? Echoes of human life.....
What species of owl is that, please?Still here. In a different tree right over the sidewalk. Just finished snow blowing the drive and shoveling the walk. Sat there and watched us the whole time. He is sleeping now that the noise has stopped. Spooky how they look you right in the eye. View attachment 472378

Lovely sound but not sure where how you can fit 'who cooks for you' from that!
Got 3 here, renewed one just yesterday and have have successful broods in themIt would be fantastic if everybody that read this thread would invest in an owl box (http://www.barnowl.co.uk/product6.asp).
To have your farm chosen as place of residence by a Barn Owl is priceless.
Got a raft of those down the sheep fields, they sit very tight in the grass (ground roosters) a spaniel nose up the bum gets them air borne,! They then tend to hunt behind us in the grass margins whilst we're putting up electric fence. Get heaps of twitchers trying to see them, and getting grumpy when we roar past on the quad only to be presently surprised that the owls follow us about so making it easy for them to get their photo's.Saw a short eared owl for the first time this autumn and again Monday. Really chuffed
Barn owls are the thing I miss most about our farm.......
Here is a couple of shots I got before leaving.
