Mrs PBH says Morrissons got good deals on beef atm. Presumably they've got plenty about?
All meat firms big and small saying the same, more cattle coming at them than demand. And too many lean cattle too.

3.90 farmers freshAny deadweight prices for lamb this week?
Would Tony buy many...if so I expect is the smaller end would that be correctTony England is always there.Gittens, and John Errington who buys for himself and thats about it.There is always a fair few sheep there from the Scottish Isles/Highlands.It will be a big change for them to end up in South West England.
How does that compare with woodheads
I have hardly ever stopped to watch my sheep though Longtown at all for the last few years. I have been dropping sheep off there for 27 years and often not stopped to watch them though rightly or wronglyReally though, all the cattle in now so struggle with Longtowns timing. Lambs last week not in before 7.30 would not be sold till mid afternoon so a bloody long day, Carlisle in by 9.30 usually sold before dinner. TBH I prefer Longtown really but why they can’t sell the lambs before the ewes is always a mystery to me.
Cheaper stuff yes some he didn’t even bid atWould Tony buy many...if so I expect is the smaller end would that be correct
Everyone is of the same opinion about the time the lambs have to stand, waiting for the ewes to finish. I did mention it to one of owners but nothing will change, its to cater for the ewes and buyers, and its always been more of a market for them. Also the yard manager won't change the timings either.Really though, all the cattle in now so struggle with Longtowns timing. He hardly ever leaves the ringside all the way through the sale, and will buy a good few.He is always at Carlisle on Mondays as well.He is an artist at getting the mart ring man to pull a single lamb out of the pen, then buying it after for a tenner.Would Tony buy many...if so I expect is the smaller end would that be correct

I know I was told by a few it’s a risky strategy! I think I have had my day standing there all day after a 3 am start. I can be home by 8 am and in action for the day. There has been a few twisting sessions on odd occasions when the sheet arrives!!Braver man than me
I think the yard manager is a hell of a good man mind!!Everyone is of the same opinion about the time the lambs have to stand, waiting for the ewes to finish. They sometimes pull the price down to put pressure on processors to lower prices and it worksYeah was in local Morrison’s the other night and lamb legs and chops 9pound a kilo shoulders 6 beef silverside 9 pound a kilo and sirloin steaks 14 pound I thought it was a buyers market
