lambs back today at thrapston, but a lot of leaner sorts, best guess lean ones at £1.95kg better fleshed £2.10-£2.20/kg, about £10/hd down on the week.

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (Thursday 11th June 2020) 132 Cows and Bulls.



Aberdeen & Northern Marts sold 132 Cast Cows and Bulls at their weekly sale on Thursday 11th June. A plainer show of cows than previous weeks was presented to the usual ringside of bidders with all classes easily maintaining recent rates. The cow section was topped at £1,550 for a Limousin cross consigned by Messrs Henderson, Mains of Wardhouse and selling to Messrs Kirkpatrick, Lockerbie. Top price per kg was 189p for a Limousin cow from Messrs Miskelly, Boulintogle, Halkirk. Overall cow average levelled at 147.6p (-1.2p) or £1,077.57. With the entire sale averaging £1,080.15

Cast bulls also met a strong demand, especially for wellfleshed continentals selling to £1,650 for a Limousin from Messrs Ross, Coralhill, Lonmay being again purchased by Messr Kirkpatrick, Lockerbie. Cast bulls averaged 122p per kg (-3.8p) and £1,218.59 per head.

Bulls: Fairburn (Lim) £1,450; Logie (Lim) £1,410; Coralhill (LimX) £1,310; 5 Upper Dounreay, Thurso (AA) £1,290; Prettycur (AA) £1,210.

Whitland Mart report for this Tuesday. Looks like calves are still red hot! ?

Calves & Weaned Calves (404) 10.15am
Calf trade continues to soar at Whitland with bull calves topping at £460 (Hereford and Lim) and heifer calves selling to £380 (Hereford). Many more quality calves broke the £300 mark and the £200 barrier was a starting point more often than not. Friesian bulls trade picked up even further returning an average of £85 and an astonishing top price of £235.
Another good entry of 121 weaned calves also met a good trade with Limousin steers selling to £720 and Limousin heifers to £685.Steers averaged £457 thoughout and heifers £444.
