One thing is for certain we have all seen the effects of dw only being available and it ain’t good.
Worryingly lw has been in decline and some auction marts accounts are in a poor state of health.
Often as prices rise lw leads the way and when prices drop the same applies.
Theres a danger that dw will keep attracting more vendors causing the end of more markets then we know what the next move will be then.
As for the hundreds of lambs causing gluts in live auctions and the effects of such wouldn’t be such an issue. The numbers would be just the same and lambs could still be placed as they always were/are
I'm sure we all realise we need both live and dead for the UK market to work properly.

The 'trick' would be for us to be able to manipulate the system somehow so that the deadweight processors did not quite have enough for them to fullfill their orders and have to top them up by buying in live markets.

That really is the dream situation and does occur very occasionally when 'all the planets align'

I’ve just come up with the answer.

Us liveweight sellers should charge a levy to all dw sellers payable back to us.
As we are taking a sh!t price on their behalf, travelling further, spending more time and most importantly securing their base prices for them.
Look at us like a type of EBLEX but one that actually does something instead of sitting on a beach drinking out of fancy glasses with umbrellas in.
Top notch idea(y). (500 acres come up for sale not far from you,but maybe t other side of valley.Interested? )

ENTRIES TO WHITLAND ON 01994240665 or

Catalogue entries for sucklers and bulls close Wednesday 26th August.

What's the trade like for smaller growing cattle? These would be 350ish kilo, 15 month grazing cattle. I don't need to move them but they've just passed a TB test and I wouldn't mind selling some.

Would they do better in Exeter or Sedgemoor?
