Just shows you, I recon they are stinking dear compared to tupping ewe lambs at £115 but who knows 🤔
Is there any money in tupping ewe lambs.........?? All the feed they need & the work of lambing them, then you have the hassle of having to take one lamb off her if she has 2 to end up with a thin yearling that u really have to work on to get to the ram in proper condition in the autumn.....? Personally I think there's v little money in tupping lambs.........

I Run them on the best grass i have. If I run them dry I run them on the worst I have. Lamb them outside in May and they are less work than ewes imo

Depends on your ewe lambs tbh. The 2 lambs can be a hassle right enough, but if they're bred right and selected for tupping appropriately/correct tup used, then jobs a good un. As z.man has said, they'd be monsters here if left to run for another year, which would lead to problems of their own 👍

You stick too runners. I'll carry on struggling losing money tupping these big ewe lambs 😉

I hate lambing dry shearlings. Really sends my blood pressure through the roof. Give me a big ewe lamb any day.

Depends on your system. I lamb the ewe lambs mid April after the ewes have had their main rush. Put them on the best reseeds, if it goes dry get at them with a few grass nuts. Wean them mid July, dry them off, mineral bonus and get them away to a wintering man mid august on arable fertility leys that he's had 2 cuts off. By the time tupping gets here they are big strong shearlings. If I didn't have access to plenty of winter keep it may be different though. Have too use more bag too make up for it.
Also helps that I can sell as many pet lambs as I have easy as anything at lambing. £5 each no picking.
